Elves’ Village is an unforgettable place where man and nature are one and where time doesn’t matter.

Visitor Center

The new Visitor Center will open in Tonttula Elämyskylä in December 2024.

The highlight of the Visitor Center is Santa Claus’s home. You will also find a souvenir shop where you can bring a touch of Lapland magic to your home.

The café offers light snacks and, of course, rice porridge prepared by Mrs. Claus! The ice creams made in the elves’ own ice cream factory are simply irresistible. Tonttula Elämyskylä is a magical holiday destination that combines the unique nature of Lapland with a mythical world.

Explore the mysterious world of Elves

Elves Village offers guided tours and activities that invite you to discover the wonders of Christmas. Embark on an adventure with the Santa’s Workshop program, try reindeer sleigh rides, or enjoy the gentle steam of the riverside sauna. At the heart of the experience village lies Elves Village Hideaway, a mystical area filled with elf stories and ancient Lapland beliefs. This magical hideaway offers several attractions where you can explore the world of elves and gnomes.

Café & Restaurant

The long tables are cleverly covered with rag rugs. You can spend some time in the main building and enjoy the kitchen’s delicacies. Tonttula’s café serves a daily soup lunch. Starting from December, there will also be a reduced à la carte menu available during lunch hours. From the beginning of December, the café will be open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with the à la carte menu available until the evening.

Luxurious accommodation in the heart of Lapland’s nature

There are plenty of accommodation options, each offering something special for everyone. For those who prefer a more traditional holiday, Elves Village hotel provides cozy and homely lodging that combines comfort with Lapland’s traditions. The Aurora Pyramids offer luxury accommodation in a glass-roofed igloo. The Country House and Elf’s Cabin are suitable for larger groups.

In the unique Elves Village, you can discover the mysterious Elves Hideaway, take part in various activities, enjoy a meal in a cafe, stay in a hotel or in the wonderful Aurora Pyramids.

The Elves’ Experience Village is located in Lapland, 180km north of the Arctic Circle in Kittilä, in the Köngäs village only 8km from Levi. It’s easy to get here by car, plane, train or on a bus.

You can get to the cafe-restaurant Elves Village without paying an entrance fee.
You can buy the entrance fee either here or at Tonttula’s café-restaurant. The entrance fee include a self-guided tour of the Elves Village area, where you can find Elves Village buildings, Elves Path, elves Hideaway, Seita stone and much more.

1. Tonttula Café & Souvenier shop / Reception

Every day is Christmas at the Elves’ Village. You will feel the Christmas atmosphere as you enter the main building at the Elves’ Village.

You don’t need to pay an area fee when you visit our cafe.

2. Hotel Taivaanvalkeat

Have an unforgettable experience at Hotel Taivaanvalkeat. This is an excellent place for groups, families or just for you when you want to experience something a bit different.

3. Country House

Next to the main house is a separate Country house of four bedrooms, kitchen and sauna. It can be reserved together with the main house for up to 38 persons or for smaller group to stay privately.

4. Aurora Pyramids

When you stay at the glass-roofed Aurora Pyramids, you can almost touch the ever-changing sky, nature and its forces. Heavenly nature and the Firmament present themselves through the glass roof in a new way, every day. The Aurora pyramids (11 of them) are situated at Tonttula Experience village.

5. Elves Henhouse

Included in the area fee:
The Elves’ Village has beautiful chickens which are a cross between two chicken breeds, the dwarf chicken and the silkie. They love broadleaf plantain, and they all have their own crazy habits. One of the chickens is called Pikku-Musta (Little Blacky). Pikku-Musta is the most interested in people and sometimes likes to play hide-and-seek.

6. Elves Homes Museum

Near the parking lot, there are three wonderful sheds that have been decorated as “Elf Museums”, they are opened every morning when the Elf is open for customers to admire.

The inhabitants of the elf huts delight children, but even an adult can be amazed when they peek inside!

7. Riverside sauna

The traditional riverside sauna was made of logs and this one was originally an old lumberjacks’ hut.  The sauna benches can seat up to 15 bathers at a time, and the large wood-heated stove releases a mild heat..

8. Riverside kiln

The Riverside Kiln is also a great meeting space with a large table for up to eight people.

Riverside Kiln also serves as a cozy dressing room in addition to the sauna’s small fireplace room. The Riverside Kiln has a private toilet.

9. Water demondell

Included in the area fee:
Forest demons live in the middle of a gloomy forest in Demondell, where the head of the demons rule over them. Demons hide in demon castles that just look like piles of stones to humans. But if you see a large sword by a door, you know demons live there. In the water, these evil spirits are ruled by the Water Demon, who harasses fishermen. Earth demons live close by the gnomes’ dwellings.

10. Gold panning

An elf specializing in gold panning will guide you to the secrets of this Lapland tradition – maybe you’ll find your own little piece! Additional paid program.

11. Herb garden

The forest gnome’s favorite hobby is collecting natural herbs and processing them to benefit people.

When you visit the herb garden, you can, for example, taste licorice, cumin, rhododendron or mint and learn what kind of healing herbs can be obtained from herbs.

12. Cheeps

Baa baas are the Elves’ Village sheep and they are the mother of twins, the timid Nipsu and the lively Nöpsö which both love food. The sheep’s favourite foods are fireweed, bread, roots, and especially carrots. Sometimes these cunning sheep, which are also fond of delicacies, decide to go on a food hunt by themselves because they know where the elves keep their dried bread. After their food hunt, they quickly return to their safe paddock.

In the summer, the sheep take care of the lawn and the riverbank. In the winter, the Knitting Elf Nuttu knits wool socks and mittens using their wool.

13. Forest path

The elves are doing their own thing in the hidden areas of the forest of experiences. A lucky wanderer will find an elf’s cabin or hiding place. The path leads the guest to the most secret place in the elf world, Elves Hideaway.

The Experience Forest Path leads guests to the most secret place in the elven world, The Elves’ Hideaway.

The Elves’ Hideaway are located Gingerbread house, Elf School and The Hut of Knowledge.

15. Bear chair

Included in the area fee:
“The Bear-Chair stood majestically on the mossy forest floor. Sailor-Smith Elf had done some fine work. The features of the sacred animal were just like a real bear, and it was good to sink into its lap. At first, the seat felt a bit hard under her bottom, but after a while it felt as if she was sitting on a thick, soft pillow, it was so warm and comfy. The sitter felt safe, too – she was now in the lap of the bear, the king of the forest.”

16. Seita stone

Included in the area fee:
You will see a large stone. A giant fir has grown on it since long ago. In the stump, all that’s left now of the fir, there’s a crow’s nest. This is the dwelling of the Great Avariti, who watches carefully anyone who approaches the stone. The roots of the fir have wound into the cracks of the stone over hundreds of years. You have arrived at the Seita-stone.

17. Santas vehicles

Included in the area fee:
Santa’s vehicles Höpsö helicopter, Rudolf rednose’s sleigh, 200-year-old bike and gift sleigh

18. Tempple

Included in the area fee:
This pleasant Temple in the Elves’ Village is located in the Elves’ Experience Village courtyard and it is a place you should definitely visit!

The idea behind the Temple is that any guest who comes here can spend a quiet moment in the Temple with his or her book of faith in their own language. Books of faith already exist in several languages.

19. Blacksmith’s workshop

Included in the area fee:
Welcome to the new build – Blacksmith’s workshop – which is made in the old style.
